BANGKOK SHOPERA

Where: Bangkok Art and Culture Center, ground level  (you can't miss the shop, guarded by a 12-foot-tall demoness puppet) across the street from MBK

directly accessible from the National Stadium BTS by covered walkway from now until October 11th

For information about the Bangkok Opera, to purchase all the latest Bangkok Opera and Siam Philharmonic Orchestra DVDs and CDs, buy tickets to the opera's events, and generally hang out with other creative people, please check out the Bangkok ShOpera at the Art-Trium, Bangkok Art and Culture Center in the heart of Bangkok.

Artistic Director Somtow, famed composer Bruce Gaston and Europe's latest sensational young conductor Trisdee na Pattalung are all people you are likely to meet at this exciting new hangout spot which has been provided courtesy of the Bangkok Art and Culture Center.

The place has just opened, and things are not entirely in place yet, but soon you will also be able to enjoy a refreshing drink, and pick up in-stock DVDs of the opera you missed — like the recent production of THAÏS (the only DVD available that comes complete with the Act II ballet) — or the groundbreaking Mahler 5 which was performed only last month.

Hours are from 10 am until 8 pm (or 9pm on busy nights), except Mondays.

On weekends, expect musical events to happen in and around the ShOpera.  Bruce Gaston and Somtow plan a kinetic, multi-spatial level John Cage concert later this month, and the charismatic teenage classical boyband, the Shounen-Thai Quartet, will give performances from time to time.

Details of coming events in and around the Bangkok ShOpera will be coming shortly ... CD openings, book signings, singer appearances ... stay tuned!
