Foreigners purchased 10,703 condominium units, amounting to 52.3 billion baht, in the first nine months of 2023. This reflects a year-on-year increase of 37.6% and 31.6%, respectively, according to the Real Estate Information Center.
The top five foreign buyers were as follows:
- Chinese: 4,991 units valued at 24.7 billion baht, with an average of 5 million baht per unit.
- Russian: 962 units valued at 3.4 billion baht, with an average of 3.6 million baht per unit.
- American: 422 units valued at 2.1 billion baht, with an average of 5 million baht per unit.
- Taiwanese: 378 units valued at 1.8 billion baht, with an average of 4.9 million baht per unit.
- British: 372 units valued at 1.8 billion baht, with an average of 4.9 million baht per unit.
Burmese buyers ranked 7th, acquiring 347 units with a total value of 2.3 billion baht, averaging 6.5 million baht per unit.
The majority of condominium units purchased by foreign buyers were located in the Bangkok Metropolitan Region, Chonburi, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Prachuap Khiri Khan (Hua Hin), and Rayong, respectively.
Wichai Viratakaphan, the acting director-general of REIC, stated that as the tourism sector continues to recover, an increasing number of foreign buyers are expected to invest in Thai condominium units.
