Ab dem 20. Januar wird die Nimmahemin Road, zwischen der Soi 3 und der Soi 17, testweise für 30 Tage zu einer Einbahnstraße gemacht, der entgegenkommende Verkehr wird dann zur recht engen Sirimangkalajarn Road umgeleitet. :o {+

Pol. Col. Suthichai Thananchai Superintendent of Chiang Mai Traffic Police told the Chiang Mai Mail that it was hoped this would ease congestion and allow cars to park on Nimmanhaemin road directly. He added that the one way would be 24 hours a day and not at rush hour only. Traffic jams were expected initially but the police are hopeful this will resolve the near gridlock conditions that hit Nimmanhaemin every day.

Die Meldung ist schon ein paar Tage alt, dürfte aber dennoch für den ein oder anderen interessant sein.

Am 18.12.2012 hat der Gouverneur von Chiang Mai offiziell das Chiang Mai Historical Centre und das Lanna Museum eröffnet.
Eintrittspreise: 90,- Baht für Erwachsene und und 40,- Baht für Kinder. (Hoffe das gilt auch für Farang. :-X)

Lokalpolitiker drängen auf den Bau eines 2. Airport in Chiang Mai.
Der Gouverneur von CNX hat dementsprechende Pläne der Premierministerin Yingluck, bei ihrem letzten Besuch vorgelegt.
Meine persönliche Meinung, bei dem derzeitigen Wachstum der Stadt ist das eine sehr gute Idee!
Man sollte eigentlich noch einen Schritt weitergehen, und sich für den kommenden, innerstädtischen Verkehrsinfarkt mal ein paar sinnvolle Lösungsansätze überlegen. ???
