Pheu Thai PM Candidate Srettha Thavisin stated that his party did not deceive the people, but emphasized the necessity of facing reality.

"We must acknowledge the harsh realities and make difficult choices to progress and aid the people. While we did not intentionally mislead the public, we must come to terms with the truth," he expressed.

Prominent members of the party, including Srettha himself, had previously declared that they would not establish a government alongside the Palang Pracharath Party (PPRP) and the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party before the election. However, today, the party announced a Pheu Thai-led coalition encompassing both the PPRP and Ruam Thai Sang Chart.

Srettha explained that their pre-election statements were based on their belief in securing a resounding victory in the prior election. Since this outcome did not materialize, they were compelled to retract from their initial stance in order to swiftly form a government and address the economic challenges facing the people.

Von den 482 Stimmen, die für Herrn Srettha abgegeben wurden, entfallen 330 auf Abgeordnete und 152 auf Senatoren. Von den 164 Gegenstimmen entfallen 152 Stimmen auf Abgeordnete und 12 Stimmen auf Senatoren. Bei den 81 Stimmenthaltungen handelte es sich um 13 Abgeordnete und 68 Senatoren.

Die von der Pheu Thai geführte Regierung wird voraussichtlich Ende September ihr Amt antreten, wie der stellvertretende Premierminister Wissanu Krea-ngam heute (Mittwoch) erklärte.

Er erklärte, dass es zwar einen königlichen Befehl gibt, der Srettha Thavisin zum Premierminister ernennt, er aber noch nicht mit der Ausübung seines Amtes beginnen kann, da sein Kabinett erst noch gebildet werden und den Treueeid ablegen muss.
